Diver in a surface supplied helmet at a dam while the spillway gates discharge.
Commercial diving. Marine construction. One crew.

INFRASTRUCTURE DOESN'T STOP AT THE WATERLINE. NEITHER DO WE.

Commercial diving, underwater inspection, heavy repair and targeted dredging for water, wastewater, dams, bridges, industrial and port facilities. Surface-supplied crews, our own equipment, and documentation an engineer can act on.

The Waterline

Infrastructure doesn't stop at the waterline. Neither do we.

The part of a facility above the water is only half the system. Intakes, gates, trash racks, submerged concrete and pilings continue below the surface, where owners can't see them and conditions go unchecked for years. Zion Marine works across both, inspecting and repairing the components that keep critical infrastructure running.

Core Capabilities

Technical Services Above and Below the Surface.

One crew inspects, repairs and dredges. Inspect and repair in one mobilization where conditions allow. No subcontracted diving.

Inspection & Documentation

Underwater condition assessment, video documentation and measurement for infrastructure that cannot be adequately evaluated from the surface, delivered as a record owners and engineers can act on.

View Capability Details →

Underwater Construction & Repair

Underwater welding, tremie concrete placement, pile encasement, epoxy grouting and structural repair, so an inspection finding does not end at a report when the condition calls for corrective work.

View Capability Details →

Water & Wastewater Diving

Potable and contaminated-water diving performed on active treatment, distribution and collection infrastructure, without requiring the facility to shut down when possible.

View Capability Details →

Gates, Intakes & Flow Control

Sluice gate repair, seal replacement, trash rack cleaning, stoplog placement and differential pressure safety, for the gates and intakes that control flow through water, dam and industrial infrastructure.

View Capability Details →

Dredging & Sediment Removal

Diver-guided hydraulic suction dredging for intakes, forebays, pump wells, basins and berths, sediment and debris removal that restores capacity without taking the facility offline.

View Capability Details →

Confined & Difficult Access

Penetration diving in dark conduits, siphons, pipelines and limited-clearance structures, the confined and difficult-access work that keeps infrastructure owners from draining, demolishing or guessing.

Consultative Approach

START WITH THE CONDITION.

Facility owners do not always know whether a submerged issue requires routine cleaning, targeted suction dredging, gate seal replacement, or a major structural rebuild. We enter projects at the evaluation phase, inspect the actual submerged environment, and help determine the most practical path forward.

Lake Tuscaloosa Water Intake Upgrade

Owner: City of Tuscaloosa · GC: Haren Construction · Tuscaloosa, Alabama · 2024

Removed the existing timber intake and rock ballast and installed a new intake with diver-placed steel formwork, rebar and concrete. Replaced the screen guide rails and the air-valve intake. Surface-supplied air was run from a barge at 110 ft depth with surface oxygen decompression, an on-site chamber, a chamber operator and a dive medical technician on standby.

R.M. Clayton Water Plant Improvements

Owner: City of Atlanta · Levee: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers · GC: Astra Group · Atlanta, Georgia · 2025–2026

Two scopes at the City of Atlanta's R.M. Clayton water plant. At the levee outlets, underwater installation of four custom backflow prevention devices: a 9 ft hinged valve, a 48 in duckbill check valve, a fabricated sliding gate and an 8 x 7 ft hinged valve, with fabrication support, rigging and diver installation. At the plant, chlorine contact chamber modifications.
